ZEC Mining with AWS Credits

Hi there,

I currently have ~5K $ of AWS credits that are valid for another 2 months.

What is the best way I could utilize them to mine ZEC as efficiently as possible?

Thank you!

Tim

I’d imagine if you were trying to accumulate ZEC you’d be better off with the most profitable CPU mined coin then go to BTC then to ZEC. Mining Monero might be a good option (I believe it’s currently of the order of 4x more profitable to CPU mine than ZEC).

GPUs have a pretty hefty advantage over CPUs currently and GPU instances on AWS are relatively expensive so I don’t imagine that’s the best approach.

@garethtdavies Thanks for the info! How did you find that stat? Where can I compare?

That 4x approximation was mentioned in another discussion over botnet influence on Zcash.

You may need to do a bit of research using https://whattomine.com e.g. determining what hashrate you can expect on various AWS instances mining Monero (then plug numbers into Monero (XMR) Mining Profit Calculator - WhatToMine) vs. Zcash etc… Monero is likely a very good starting point though.
