Miner- Optiminer/Zcash GPU miner v1.7!

@Optiminer

From your experience do you think we are getting close to the limit in hashing for the RX 480’s or is there margin for more increases?
If yes what % do you think approx?

Thanks

Crimson ReLive Edition 17.1.1 Optional new drivers tried?

Just the timing mod that many do on the silent mode BIOS. Copy 2nd last timing numbers to last position and flash (there are some videos). However, you need the Samsung memory in the 8GB models. I’m not sure it will work the same with the 4GB GPU’s. This will lower your GPU clock speed (power savings) but tighten your memory to GPU timing ratio for improved performance. Ideally you would then increase you memory clock speed using the new timing (for even better performance at the expense of power) but with the AMD-pro drivers that not as simple as it was on Ubuntu 14.04. Windows also will refuse to load the AMD drivers once you modify the BIOS so you cant even do testing with Wattman… although some have posted workarounds to this that I have not yet tested.

Still a problem in 1.4.0

Nothing to add except that I just realized how awesome hour videos are. Do you have a image for whatever Linux you run for optiminer?

i run 16.04
+amdgpupro 16.30 _amdappsdk forget what version, id have to check
if you install those 3 things its basically the same as I have running less gtkrecordmydesktop :stuck_out_tongue:

i have the images, ISO file for ubuntu and file for amdgpupro, but you should still be able to download the 16.04 ISO from the ubuntu site (just gotta find the old downloads on the servers) and AMDGPUPRO if you cant find it i think i uploaded it already for someone.

@Optiminer ver 1.4.0 miner worked for about 1 day, then got errors and the suprnova pool said its not available, when I try to kill it the system (Ubuntu 16.04) hangs. The same happened again on the next day… Came back to 1.3.0, there was no such issues on it. RX480 PowerColor Red Dragon 8Gb. amdgpu-pro-16.40.

UPD: The same happenening on 1.3.0 now… Since 11 hours of mining the error appears “[2017-01-22 02:59:27.737] [error] IO/Error communicating to zec.suprnova.cc” and stops mining.

Hi,
the message error “[2017-01-20 09:32:32.779] [error] IO/Error communicating to xxx.xxx”
appears when I run using mine.sh.
If you run using the commnad line, ex. optiminer -s eu1-flyminchia.blabla -u t134343 -p x, it works without error. I suppose the error related to some missing path library.

My mine.sh is the following. I don’t use watchdog.
export GPU_FORCE_64BIT_PTR=1
POOL=zec.suprnova.cc:2142
USER=xxx.xxx
PASSWORD=xxx

cd “$(dirname “$0”)”
/home/optiminer/optiminer-zcash/optiminer-zcash -s $POOL -u $USER -p $PASSWORD

@zen try the command line… I don’t know why but it could works

Can you tell which brand/model od rx470 are we seeing here? I am having 240+ on my Sapphire 470 and 230+ on my Asus 470 on Windows with Claymore 11.1. The difference presented in your video is worth changing OS and miner, but only if it works the same with my cards. And what do you use for overclocking the cards in Linux/Ubuntu? Or already have them overclocked in BIOS?

Any idea why 1 from 6 GPU stop working after few minutes ? this only happen on Optiminer.

In my videos I always use my Sapphire Nitro OC+ cards, 470 and 480

470s have modded roms, mem straps up

480s are stock OC rom, no modded rom.

Linux is faster for Optiminer, its faster than his windows version and faster than both claymores windows or linux version.

I do not overclock in linux, from reading up on it, overclocking is a pain in the butt… from what I read you need to have kernel 4.8 or 4.9 installed and you need to patch it and then change some values in some AMD file… I say some cause i have not tried and forget exactly what I read… i didnt even try cause I think im using kernel 4.6 or something… whatever kernel 16.04 is initially based on. I’m not sure if that info that I read is now outdated… or if there is another way… i tried to search and learn… but that was all i came up with.

Most of my rigs are currently on ETh, only one rig on ZCash right now, the 295x2 rig. and for some reason those cards dont like linux… so im leaving htem in windows… going to sell them off this month anyways and replace them probably with 1050ti’s… looking at 1050tis as i type… thinking which ones to buy. Thinking of replacing the 2 295x2’s with 6 1050ti’s. … same hashrate, 1/2 the watts…

if someone else knows how to overclock AMDGPUPRO in ubuntu 16.04 without the kernel patching, i need to know… please tell me or show me a good write up on how to do it, and I;ll make a video on it.

Hi Cryptomined…

Question…

Why 1050ti? why not 1060 or 1070? any reason behind it?

its cheaper, 2 1050ti’s cost about 2/3rds to 3/4s of a 1070 and produce almost the same rate… about 400 h/s compared to maybe 430-460

atleast from quickly thinking about it, thats what Im looking at/thinking

maybe you can help me as i have a tooth ache and havent slept in like 36 hours

Need me to pull the tooth out?..

:wink: :smiley:

i think i need a root canal

wjhat im trying to figure out is the watts

cool bro thanks for letting me know :slight_smile: looks like that 36 hours awake is going to get extended to 48
