Looking for testnet faucet

Hey all!

I have tried to find a testnet faucet for zcash test - but no luck,

Can someone refer me to a working one? or if some one can send some test coins to:
tmPZmuceR1tdtwHV1wF8HYgAiyoez6eLqXf

Tnx!!!

Assuming you are on version 1.1.1 or 1.1.2 (the latest) this will work https://sapling-faucet.testnet.z.cash/. There are current two testnets and these versions are on the Sapling chain.

I also sent some to that address with txid 6f5a9029bf65f2e6e350786b09351ab63cc12bde1c55aadb0538e2ea83dbeeee

Awesome! much appreciated,
The faucet also worked. Could u explain a bit more about the versions of the sapling chain?

Tnx!

For versions 1.1.1 and 1.1.2 there was a testnet activation of the Sapling chain at block 252500 see New Release: 1.1.1 - Electric Coin Company. Users running 1.0.15 or 1.1.0 were on the testnet Overwinter chain (as is a lot of the infrastructure such as the main faucet and explorer) so long story short there are two testnet chains which has caused some confusion.

When 2.0.0 drops (which is imminent) the Sapling testnet chain will be rolled back to Overwinter as the final Sapling parameters will be included so there will be another Sapling activation on testnet.

Hey,
I have build zcash 2.0.0 from source and my testnet is fully synced .
However, I am not able to get any test zcash using any of the faucets neither https://sapling-faucet.testnet.z.cash/ nor https://faucet.testnet.z.cash/

So, I guess i have sapling activated chain on my server and the faucet is adding to overwinter chain.
Could you pls mention some faucet through which I can get test zcash or do I need to run 1.1.0 for getting test zcash.

Thanks

This has been updated since I typed that. https://faucet.testnet.z.cash/ works and is on 2.0.0 (i.e. the Sapling chain). Do you have a txid that the faucet generated as it’s possible to check that it was correctly sent?

In addition just add an address here if you want and I’ll send some.

Oh…thats great.
My address is tmMKCZGeKSRNFJkwhBR4Yg4dNsCg4qNy5Gw
Just another query :- can you mention some testnet block explorer for sapling chain as I was not able to track my transaction id 5b3f0b6e34b6aaad342b880a30c0448f658d7041f1443b8b51dad86388349535
on some block explorers.

Thanks a lot.

Sent with txid e67c88e4e1e00a2ba6c2f1ae11a172bf637121244502c3c3632097861bd6c5f4.

No block explorer (to my knowledge) yet works with Sapling transactions (version 4). It’s understandably confusing without working block explorers and different testnets.

Should you wish you can use your full node to view these transactions (note you’ll need to restart zcashd with txindex=1 if they are not yours and it’ll have to resync the entire chain). Then you can do:

zcash-cli getrawtransaction 5b3f0b6e34b6aaad342b880a30c0448f658d7041f1443b8b51dad86388349535

This returns the raw transaction assuming it exists, which is in hex, but then simply pass that output into decoderawtransaction and you’ll see the details of the tx which included your faucet tx (it’ll be the one with value of 3) - note I cut off this transaction to only show outputs for brevity.
