I'm a dev. What's still missing in the Zcash ecosystem?

Always the most profitable, this is at least what I do.
Others just stick to the one coin they believe in.

Have a look at https://www.whattomine.com

There you can calculate approximate mining speeds, and that the final profit would be per day.

Anorak,
Good morning, anyway, I don’t even know the side of the world you are, but
here its good morning. I will try and study the link you sent to guide my
mining plans.
It will have been so nice if someone can work with their api that just tell
you per time which altcoin is doing best instead of going to the site all
the time…lol
Have a beautiful day.

And every IT-Affine has infinite votes?

Sorry, I don’t know what “IT-Affine” means.

I was thinking there may be a way to use one time tokens to prevent multiple votes. Not sure how that would work without a trusted authority though. Or maybe a trusted authority is ok, if its still unhackable.

IT-Affine is a dictum which means people who know about IT (software & hardware).

The problem is: Anonymity.

If something is anonymous, then you can’t make sure that he does not create many accounts to vote or whatever you choose as an identification feature.

Hi there, @eyajuda! I’m very interested in the spread of cryptocurrencies in Africa, so please tell me where you live, and what kinds of requests you get for Bitcoin for local transactions! What kinds of transactions?

Hello Zooko

Nice to hear from you. You are right cryptocurrency is just starting out
and the momentum is heavy.

I live in Abuja, the Federal Capital Of Nigeria, am the team lead of a
technology solutions company hq in the city.
Basically, btc is used for a lot of transactions, for example, crypto
investments, savings and exchanges in this area. In other words, there are
a number of these schemes running and people are benefiting. One of such
is, www.mmmoffice.com, where you can give help in both local currency and
bitcoin and also get rewarded with interest. One of the leading cyrpto
networking biz is Onecoin, is big in Nigeria, they accept bitcoin for
investment reward and also yocoin. Many other ones are also running.
MMMunited is purely runned using bitcoin. Some buy it to fund their
perfectmoney, payzeer accounts, etc.

Above is a little synopsis on the various nature of transactions in this
area. Our company plans to run a pilot bitcoin usage for purchases of
airtime, buy and sell bitcoin, on our self service kiosk terminals.

Hey, am happy to let you know that my first set of boxes for my rigs are
finally in, and construction have started, in earnest, will be going live
tomorrow, God willing. Rx 470- 6x, AMD A10 Mobo with 4 CPU cores and 8GPU
cores. so in all I will be starting with approx 14 gpus. am attaching the
pics. Will hunt for rx 480-8GB, soon. Expecting some 1 to 3 Pci1x from
china this week, all on the same board.

My plan is to mine altcoins and use the proceed to get btcs, I Plan to mine
zcash/monero and or ethereum. By the side, Am planning to do Dash, FCN and
BCN. What advice do you have for me.

Thanks bro.

We’re working on shapeshift integration in OpenBazaar presently.

A GUI wallet that allows users to send to/from protected addresses. If I’m not mistaken, no currently-implemented GUI wallets have that most-basic functionality.

Very few coins are being protected presently, and I suspect this is because the the tools for doing so aren’t available for non-linux-command-line-users. This has a very real effect on the privacy of the entire system.

Take a look at these stats to see just how big of deal this is:

The Swing wallet can send to/from protected zaddrs!
the mac version of it with integrated zcash (my port  ) requires ZERO command line interaction, and is a native Mac App. It downloads and verifies the proving key in the gui and everything.

Here’s the beta:
https://zcash.dl.mercerweiss.com/ZCashSwingWalletUI-1.0.3.dmg
(note that the app name, branding, url etc is changing soon, but that link will continue to work after that happens).

Cheers!

I would LOVE to get shapeshift integration working in the Zcash Swing wallet!
Something for the infinitely expanding TODO list, @zab ?

I think it would be great if someone added Zcash to the universal paper wallet generator: GitHub - MichaelMure/WalletGenerator.net

Oh man, I’m so disappointed to hear that it is MMM and OneCoin! Those are two ponzi schemes which are just scams. Ponzi schemes always wrap up (leaving a large number of people poorer) before too long, so this means that Bitcoin/cryptocurrencies will probably stop getting traction in Nigeria and in fact will probably get a bad reputation in Nigeria which will deter people there from learning how cryptocurrencies can actually do good. Fuck. :frowning:

P.S. After I posted this comment then I saw this news, which may herald the end of MMM in Nigeria: http://qz.com/861712/mmm-nigeria-a-popular-russian-ponzi-scheme-has-suspended-its-operations-causing-panic-among-participants/

In case you don’t know, Ponzi schemes always end this way eventually, and when they end the scammers running them always initially claim that it is temporary and is someone else’s fault. So, this event described in this news article may or may not be the end of MMM Nigeria. When the end does come, it will look like this at first.

Awesome!! Can’t wait to see that! By the way I just saw this news today: https://blog.openbazaar.org/openbazaar-company-ob1-raises-new-funding-round/

I’d like to echo what Paige said up-thread: if you are looking to implement some kind of radical new hack on top of Zcash, look into the possible uses of the Encrypted Memo Field!

I’d like to wallet software that measures the metadata taint on your plaintext UTXOs. How many standard transactions have they been part of? It would also be nice to have software that also automatically cleans up public metadata via joinsplits.

@Zooko,
You made me laugh, not really, recall that when something is new all kinds
applications takes place before the dust settles. That’s not the only
application areas, there are other growing application area, the unbanked,
huge population etc, so don’t think its only ponzi schemes please…lol,
take for example, we are going to be involved in application integration of
crptocurrency into payment terminals. Self service kiosk first. Also
starting out to integrate bitcoin into some of our eCommerce project…

So welcome on board.

How do you envision such integration working? As far as I see shapeshift is an exchange, do you want to tie the wallet to a specific exchange? Am I missing something?

I’m thinking of something like the Jaxx wallet shapeshift integration…the nice thing about shapeshift is that its anonymous, you don’t have to make an account to use it, which is NOT the normal case with exchanges!
