Critical Error on Zcash4win startup

oh yeah that’s a good ideal if you are copying to external USB flash storage

than you just need to start syncing from the time of the backup

That`s is what I did too. It worked like a charm.
But even if you dont copy the whole chain, the wallet would start the daemon and it would do the sync…may take some time since zcash has grown recently.

Applause for the Win version. I like it and had not had any issues.

Do you have java installed otherwise, aside from zcash4win? if so, in File Explorer go c:\Program Files\zcash4win\ and double click on ZCashSwingWalletUI-combined.jar and see if it runs with the jvm you have installed.

w00t, glad you are back up and running!

im getting the same error of "EOF reached (code 1) make sure server is running and you are connected to the correct RPC port. I have tried running the powershield command above and keep getting the file is not found. user name is Bones1 with no spaces. any clue?

“Program Files” is supposed to have a space in it! and you need to stick that entire line in double quotes

thanks alot. i couldnt figure it out and jumped the gun i guess. i ended up typing it in on cmd prompt screen with -reindex to redownload the entire blockchain. probably not the best way to go about it, but it seems to be working. im up to march 30 of this year, so about 50% more to go. lol

Having trouble with the new update 1.0.11. I keep getting "daemon is taking longer than expected to start… [number of seconds here]. I have used all previous versions without much problem…any help would be appreciated.

Regards,
Jeff

Question: Can I run zcash4win from a USB drive? I want to install the program in full on an encrypted USB drive and I want all of the files for it to be only used from it. Is this possible?

Thank you!

Files are installed to AppData on your C: drive at the moment. So I’m going to assume that what you’re wanting to do is not possible. At least not right now Perhaps with a few changes @anon47418038 might implement that option when he’s added the feature to install to someplace other than the C: drive

I think that would be prudent to make the wallet not only more portable, and secure, but also make it a breeze to tranfer ZEC simply by giving a wallet full of it to someone else (not like I’d do that…b/c i am greedy like that…but you get it:) )
